Global Anaesthesia Fellowships
We offer both in-country and remote opportunities to support our partnership projects in Ethiopia and Zambia. Join us in making a difference in global healthcare through dedicated training and collaboration.
Overview of Fellowships
Our fellows play a crucial role in advancing anaesthesia development in Ethiopia and Zambia by collaborating with local anaesthetists through training, quality improvement and research. Both our in-country and remote volunteers represent the essence of our work:
partnership and collaboration to develop safer surgery and critical care.
The fellowships offer anaesthetic trainees a unique cross-cultural training experience, exposing them to a varied and challenging case mix. With a strong emphasis on education, mentorship, and supporting systemic changes to improve perioperative care, these opportunities are perfect for those passionate about healthcare development and high-quality teaching.
If you are dedicated to making a difference in global health and are keen to share your expertise, we invite you to join us in this impactful journey.
In-Country Fellowship
There are opportunities to join our projects in Ethiopia and Zambia through our in-country fellowships. These positions typically last 6+ months, starting in February and August each year (some flexibility may be possible if required).
As an in-country fellow, you will have the chance to immerse yourself in the local healthcare landscape, providing hands-on training and support to Ethiopian or Zambian anaesthesia trainees. This comprehensive experience includes a variety of teaching, management, leadership, quality improvement and research activities.

These are challenging and rewarding roles that require sensitivity, commitment, and creativity. GADP fellowships are approved for Out of Programme Training (OOPT) by the Royal College of Anaesthetists.
Please note that GADP fellowships are voluntary positions and are not salaried. However, a stipend is provided to support reasonable travel, accommodation, and living expenses during in-country placements. Applicants may also choose to seek additional funding through external grants, scholarships, or bursaries, depending on their individual circumstances and eligibility.

Consultant posts are recruited on a continuous basis. The role is predominantly to provide senior support to the local team and in-country fellows but can also be tailored to a particular specialist interest that you may have.
